Week 15
Hellooo friends & family! It was yet again, another great week to be a missionary :) It was the busiest week I've had EVER on the mission! We got to see SO many miracles it was amazing! :)))
☆BAKING☆
-this week i made rice crispy treats w/ halloween sprinkles and some more mini caramel brownies! all the other missionaries really like the brownies and one of the elders even baked us something back haha! he made us pumpkin pie (me and my comp aren't big pie fans so we haven't tried it yet... but we will soon because that was super nice of him)
☆SNOW ALREADY ????☆
-this weekend there was a sudden temperature drop and I mean sudden. Friday the weather was beautiful you didn't even need a jacket outside and then Saturday and Sunday were freezing cold and rainy and snowy!! luckily me and my companion had just bought our coats and jackets the last pday sooo that was a blessing for us...otherwise we would've not been prepared at all! (I am very worried for winter lol I hated this weekend and it's not nearly as cold or stormy as the winter is apparently going to get)
☆BIKERS FOR A DAY☆
-this week we finally rode bikes (we've had them but my companion has never wanted to) and it was so fun! instead of taking 30 minutes to walk to an appointment, we made it there in under 10 minutes. unfortunately our area is all huge hills especially the neighborhood we actually live in, sooo we rode up a lot of hills and my knees were killing me for the entire week! and then at night after our last lesson we started the uphill journey home when.... my companions back tire popped. sooo what could've been a 15 ish minute uphill bike ride home turned into over 30 minutes of walking pushing bikes uphill in the cold late night haha. so yeah the biking lasted just one day, but as soon as she fixes her tire we might ride them again:)
☆PRO LANDSCAPERS?☆
-we have this one lady that we do service for pretty often because she's injured and her husband is lazy so the math adds up to a messy house. but this time she wanted to do some landscaping and yardwork before the storms came that weekend so we brought elders with us to make it get done faster.... well the elders came an hour late and left after not even 20 minutes (#fake) so she called us the next day mad and said we needed to finish what the elders didn't do right. so we had to come and shovel the rock hard ground for 2 hours. honestly that's probably the hardest work we've done so far for a service. I had so many knots in my back for the rest of the week.. but it's okay her yardwork is done now.
☆RAW OCTOPUS??☆
-one of our 13 ward mission leaders took us out with his family (they're actually our next door neighbors lol) to dinner on Saturday to a sushi place. the food was AMAZING. and he got a plate of all random raw fish and let us try some and so we tried some raw octopus! honestly it wasn't bad. it tasted pretty bland but not bad, the only bad part was how chewy it was. like if you kept chewing you'd start grossing yourself out with the texture and almost gag haha so you have to chew fast and swallow! we also ate with one of our Tongan fams and they fed us crab and more raw octopus which was better than the sushi places they're trying to feed me horse or dog but I don't think I can do it. I think I'd cry
☆COUNT YOUR MANY BLESSINGS!!☆
(This one's long I hope you have some popcorn or something lol)
-"Counting our blessings is far better than recounting our problems." (~Russell M. Nelson)
-this week, we had a lotttt of bumps in the road haha, buttttt we had even more miracles and blessings and just awesome things happen! if you start to recount all the things that went wrong, you start to forget all the things that went right! we could've been stuck on the popped bike tire, the 2 mornings we got stuck doing the elder's very difficult service because they were lazy..., a lesson that went SUPER bad (but not because of us, she just keeps picking and choosing what she believes from our church and the Catholic church and thats not really how it works but she didnt agree with anythinggg we said it was so bad), the crazy rainstorm on Saturday we had to walk in to get to our lessons (lol we walked into our lesson dripping wet it was so embarrassing they literally offered us towels, we had umbrellas but there was wind over 20 mph sooo the rain was coming from every direction haha), the crazy snow on sunday! (& us Sister missionaries can only wear pants on days we don't have meetings, church, or the temple... and Sunday we had 4 sacrament meetings so we definitely couldn't wear pants. the snow was BEAUTIFUL though, just not for walking and biking missionaries)
BUTTTTT if we sat here listing everything that was hard or bad we would forget some CRAZY miracles and blessings we witnessed!!! We had 3 people straight up delivered to us by God with a pretty bow and package and everything. 3 people came to us wanting to be baptized!! How crazy! That's never happened to us and we've never worked so hard as this week so it felt so amazing! One of those people is getting baptized Nov 5, one of them is getting baptized Nov 12, and the last one doesn't have an official date yet but we are trying for Nov 19 or sooner :)))) we also had lots of fun the one day we did ride bikes haha! and we had fun with the crazy weather. the entire time we ran in that crazy rain, we were dying laughing and smiling. life is as fun as you make it and I personally love to laugh and have a good time and help others smile too:)
it was probably one of my best weeks here. I hope you all had amazing weeks!! I love and miss you all :)
