Week 18
Hellooo friends & family! It was a slightly slow, but still GREAT week to be a missionary :) I love my zone, I love my companion, and I love my area so thats all great:)))
☆about to be the BEST WEEK EVER☆
-Honestly this week was a bit exhausting... we spent lots of time finding, but found no one. We are teaching lots of people, but no one is ready for baptism. Like super hard constantly busy work, but no immediate success which was discouraging. We were honestly busy from the minute we woke up to the minute we went to sleep and we kinda mentally and emotionally exhausted ourselves a bit. we did set ourselves up for success for next week though so things should improve. Plussss next week is going to be awesome!! ULISSES SOARES from the quorum of the 12 apostles is coming to visit our mission on Friday, and we have Zone Conference on Wednesday:)) HOW COOL! I also will hit my 4 month mark on the mission when Elder Soares comes so thats a super fun celebration. Andddd we have a baptism on Saturday for an awesome family from Mozambique!!
☆ZONE ACTIVITY☆
-last pday was SO fun! we played tons of wild games and everyone participated and had a good time. We played some intense nurf gun battles and sports. I almost won chair soccer every single round, but I totally should've gotten out in the beginning. the elder who was closest to me was the BEST at the game and super intense like im honestly a little scared of him but for some reason he would never get me out. He'd even ask me who he should target next like he wouldn't get ME out. and he played super aggressively even to the other sisters but would NOT do it to me it was so weird (but im obviously grateful because im a small delicate person who doesnt play aggressive in sports or like being treated rough) so I almost won everytime:) and then it got down to just me and him and so obviously he won.
☆Being a sister missionary in YSA....☆
-in the young single adult (ysa) ward we cover, the men have either been SUPER creepy, super awkward, have some social or mental disabilities, or (very rarely) are very attractive cool returned missionaries. unfortunately the last option has the fewest numbers lol... We have had some funny encounters this past sunday. One guy keeps asking my companion on dates and tried holding our hands, talks super close to your face like no personal boundaries whatsoever, and pretended to sit on my lap not once, but twice....(like literally started to actually sit on me both times I had to scoot away and then some RM's came and saved us) like super super awkward uncomfortable interactions but luckily those 2 returned missionaries who were there to help with a lesson saw us and helped us get out of that and they were super cool so we definitely enjoyed talking to them rather than being uncomfortably flirted with by creepy people. It takes a lot of patience to try and be christlike to some of the people we deal with in that ward... not because we don't like them, but because they have very little self control or respect for boundaries like they know we can't date them, but we have to be nice and then they think you're flirting back so yeah that's been interesting lol...
☆FATHERS☆
-me and my companion totally cried our eyes out during a lesson this week and it was super unexpected (especially since she's not super emotional). he's an old man who's become active in the church again and actually went to the temple for the first time in over 40 years this week! super cool for him:) he asked us to help him know the role of fathers and how we grew up and how our dads were and how we hope our future husband's will be, since he didn't grow up in a very good household or be a very good husband or father when he had the chance. as we started to say things about our dad's we both just started feeling super emotional and had random memories and character traits come to our minds and started crying. I think I realized how much I haven't appreciated my dad or at least expressed my appreciation for lots of little things especially when our friend would tell us how he grew up. my dad is super supportive and involved in our interests. he teaches us important skills. he is a worthy priesthood holder. he is a christlike example especially of service. he works hard and is able to provide for my family and our needs. he's obviously not perfect, no one is, but he's laid the foundation for most of my expectations for my future husband plus extra things ive just added to that list.
anyways I love yall :)))
